Un Harmonica pour Django: A Call to the Community
These days, making a record the right way—live musicians, a good studio, time to shape the sound—costs more than ever. And with labels stepping back from funding even the most seasoned artists, musicians like myself are turning to where the real support has always lived: the community.
That’s why I’m inviting you to be part of Un Harmonica pour Django—a tribute to the genius of Django Reinhardt, told through the voice of the harmonica. It’s something that hasn’t been done quite like this before.
We’ve already recorded at Studio La Menuiserie outside Paris, with a phenomenal group: Adrien Moignard on lead guitar, Mathieu Chatelain on rhythm guitar, Diego Imbert on bass, and Daniel Yvinec producing. We were honored to have the legendary Biréli Lagrène join us as a guest.
The album includes about 14 tracks—mostly Django’s timeless compositions like Nuages and Django’s Tiger, plus one original piece written for this project.
What’s left is the finishing work: mixing, mastering, design, photography, pressing CDs, and getting the word out.
The project costs $19,900. I've received a $4,000 grant from Pathways to Jazz and am now aiming to raise $5,000 to help complete it.

Un Harmonica pour Django : Un appel à la communauté
Aujourd’hui, enregistrer un album dans les règles de l’art—avec de vrais musiciens, un bon studio, et le temps nécessaire pour sculpter le son—coûte plus cher que jamais. Et alors que les maisons de disques se retirent même des projets d’artistes chevronnés, les musiciens comme moi se tournent vers leur véritable source de soutien : la communauté.
C’est pourquoi je vous invite à prendre part à Un Harmonica pour Django—un hommage au génie de Django Reinhardt, raconté à travers la voix de l’harmonica. Un projet inédit, profondément personnel.
L’album a déjà été enregistré au Studio La Menuiserie, en région parisienne, avec une équipe exceptionnelle : Adrien Moignard à la guitare solo, Mathieu Chatelain à la guitare rythmique, Diego Imbert à la contrebasse, et Daniel Yvinec à la réalisation. Nous avons eu l’immense honneur d’accueillir le légendaire Biréli Lagrène en invité spécial.
Le disque comprend une quatorzaine de morceaux, principalement des compositions emblématiques de Django comme Nuages et Django’s Tiger, ainsi qu’un morceau original composé pour l’occasion.
Reste à réaliser le travail de post-production : mixage, mastering, design graphique, photos, pressage des CDs et promotion. Le budget total s’élève à $19 900 , et j’espère réunir 5 000 $ pour mener ce projet à son terme.
